Summary:
Carl Heinrich Georg von Heyden (1793-1866) was a politician, mayor, naturalist and co-founder of the entomological section at the Senckenberg Natural History Museum. He became Junior Mayor of Frankfurt in 1836. Heyden retired from politics after an assassination attempt in 1851 and devoted himself exclusively to his research, primarily on butterflies.
